Product Design & Research

About Me

Starting my career in marketing and communications right out of college in the late nineties, I love being at the forefront of the internet and technology evolution. I quickly learned web design and development early on and have grown into the product design role with a focus on the integration of technology with physical products using a research-based, user-centered approach. I truly believe that if technology is to be used, it should adapt to the user and add value to their lives.

I’ve taken my approach and philosophy and worked on projects for Abbott Laboratories, Harley Davidson, Maytag, Whirlpool, Fender Guitars, Showtime Networks, Hyundai, BMW, Mercedes, and Audi and have created and released many of my own web and mobile applications.

I received my BA in graphic design from UW-Milwaukee in 1999 and recently completed my MS in product design and development management from Northwestern University in 2018.

As way of giving back, I love to teach technology and innovation workshops for various professional and community organizations in the Chicago and southeastern Wisconsin area and I also speak about innovation and technology at conferences and events.

In a past life, I was a semi-professional skateboarder, travelling the country competing in contests and demos, facilitating events, and ran one of the first social networks for women in skateboarding.

I am currently open to new opportunities. Feel free to contact me via email: armedstar[at]gmail.com.
